What comes to mind when you think of “Freedom”?
Freedom is a basic human right that we all should enjoy. It’s as essential as the air we breathe. Thankfully, most children in Ireland enjoy Freedom every day of their lives. For others, it’s a gift they’ve never received.
To celebrate International Human Rights Day on December 10th, PREDA Ireland is launching an exciting song competition celebrating the “Freedom” that you - the children of Ireland enjoy!!
PREDA is a children’s charity based in the Philippines that strives to free children from injustice, exploitation and poverty. The charity was founded by Fr. Shay Cullen and PREDA Ireland is a support group run by volunteers to help create awareness and raise funds for the PREDA children’s rescue programmes.
Does your class want to win a visit from leading Irish musician Damien Dempsey?
Would you like to have your song produced as a single for iTunes?
If your answer is a musical "Yes" all you have to do is enter PREDA's Freedom Day song competition. Who knows it could become the Christmas No. 1!
We welcome entries from all primary and secondary school pupils nationwide.
All you have to do is write an original song with original music about what Freedom means to you or to children globally. Then send us your audio file or video by midnight on December 3rd.
You can enter as an individual, group or class. To download the entry form, right click on the image below and click "Save As"

The pupils of St. Cronan's JNS, Swords, Co. Dublin were one of our Freedom Day Photography Competition winners last year and they were delighted to welcome Damien into their classroom. He entertained them with lots of their favourite songs and it's rumoured that he gave all of his young supporters a night off homework too!
So get your song writing hats on and get your voices warmed up to win this amazing competition and help us highlight the importance of Freedom to all children!
The winning song will be selected by a panel of judges from PREDA Ireland and the companies supporting this unique competition. The winning entry and a selection of highly commended songs will be posted on PREDA Ireland's website, YouTube Channel and Facebook page on December the 10th.
Many thanks to Spirit MM Music, Carambola-School Lunches Sorted, IMS Marketing, Galway Bay FM The School Food Company, The Galway Advertiser and the Post Leaving Cert. Business Dept. in Galway Community College for making our Freedom Day a reality.
